Former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan made harsh statements regarding US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's planned visit to Yerevan.
Modern.az reports that he stated that Washington has no real interests in Armenia and that the main purpose of this visit is another step of pressure against Russia.
"The main goal of the US is to take control of the Armenia-Iran border and harm Russia. The US side has no other serious motives," Kocharyan emphasized.
The opposition leader also assessed Marco Rubio's visit as interference in the parliamentary elections to be held in Armenia:
"I get the impression that the US Secretary of State's visit to Armenia is part of the pre-election campaign."
It should be noted that Marco Rubio will visit Armenia on May 26. He will meet with Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan there.
