On December 23 last year, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted Decision No. 408 “On improving the activities of enterprises providing services in the housing and communal services sector under the local executive authorities.” According to the decision, an initiative was put forward to establish unified housing and communal services enterprises (LLC) on the basis of the old JEK/MKİS structures. This step aims to improve the work of MKİS operating under the local executive authorities.
Modern.az contacted the Baku City Executive Power (BŞİH) regarding the issue. The authority stated that the aforementioned decision does not apply to the city of Baku:
“MKİS in Baku will not be abolished. However, a new entity will be established. The name and official powers of the entity will be changed. Other details will be determined by a new decision to be adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
It was noted that on January 26, “Baku City Capital Construction and Repair” Limited Liability Company announced a tender for the procurement of various types of goods for the provision of communal services, with a total value of 23 million 863 thousand 427 manats and 72 qepiks.
The Executive Power stated that the allocated funds are intended for the purchase of waste containers for the city of Baku.
The entity noted that waste containers will be replaced with new ones as they quickly become unusable under conditions of mass exploitation.
At the same time, the repair of building facades is also planned. Thus, building exteriors will be plastered, and various paint materials will be used. It was stated that there would be no fire hazard after the repair work.
The Executive Power also emphasized that new uniforms will be purchased for employees working in Housing and Communal Services Departments (MKİS).
It was noted that the entity responsible for the expenditure of the 23 million manat fund is “Baku City Capital Construction and Repair” LLC.
