Statistics on some infectious and parasitic diseases registered in Azerbaijan over the last five years have been released. The data show a decrease in cases of echinococcosis and cutaneous leishmaniasis.

In response to a query from Modern.az, the State Statistical Committee stated that 24 cases of echinococcosis were registered in 2025. This figure was 33 in 2024, 58 in 2023, 74 in 2022, and 43 in 2021.

The situation with leprosy has remained stable in recent years. Thus, 11 cases were registered in 2021, and 10 cases each year from 2022-2025.

19 cases of visceral leishmaniasis were registered in 2025. This figure was 11 in 2024, 31 in 2023, 27 in 2022, and 42 in 2021.

A significant decrease in cases of cutaneous leishmaniasis has been observed in recent years. While 46 cases were registered in 2023, this number decreased to 16 in 2024 and 5 in 2025. For comparison, 19 cases were registered each year in 2021 and 2022.

Cases of rabies have remained very low over the last five years. 1 case was registered in 2021, 1 in 2022, 3 in 2023, 2 in 2024, and 1 in 2025.
