Former chief prosecutor to be arrested over businessman's death

Georgia's former Chief Prosecutor Otar Romanov-Partsxaladze has been charged with organizing the murder of businessman Levan Jangveladze, brother of the "thief-in-law" Merab Sukhumsky.

Modern.az reports that this was stated by Georgia's Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandr Darakhvelidze at a briefing.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the murder of Levan Jangveladze has been fully solved. The investigation has identified all circumstances of the case and determined the main organizer. Partsxaladze faces a prison sentence of 16 to 20 years or life imprisonment.

"It has been determined who led the organized group that committed the murder of Levan Jangveladze by order and for their own benefit, therefore we can announce that the case has been solved. Based on the evidence obtained, the Chief Prosecutor's Office has decided to bring Otar Romanov-Partsxaladze to criminal responsibility," Darakhvelidze stated.
