Germany's Foreign Minister Yohan Vadeful believes that the UN Security Council no longer reflects the modern world and considers it important to increase the role of Global South countries.
Modern.az reports that, the minister stated in an interview with DPA agency that he would strive for reforms in the Security Council: “The Security Council should reflect the world of the 21st century, not the post-war period of 1945. That is why we will work hard, especially for the Global South to play a stronger role in this p”.
Y. Wadephul, stating that his country is one of the active supporters of the UN system, emphasized the possibility of simplifying the organization's activities and increasing its flexibility.
It is worth noting that Germany will put forward its candidacy for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for the years 2027-2028 this June.
