Iran will close the Bab el-Mandeb Strait if its territories, including islands, are attacked by land.
Modern.az reports that Iran's Tasnim news agency stated this, citing a military source.
"The Bab el-Mandeb Strait is considered one of the world's strategically important straits, and Iran has both the will and the capability to pose a very real threat to it. Therefore, if the Americans want to find a solution to the Strait of Hormuz problem with foolish measures, they should be careful not to add another strait to their problems and difficult situations," he said.
The Bab el-Mandeb Strait is located between Yemen and Eritrea and connects the Gulf of Aden with the Red Sea. Many ships passing through the Suez Canal traverse this strait.
