European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the European Union has faced a loss of 25 billion euros amid the conflict between the US and Israel over Iran.
Modern.az reports that she made this statement at a press conference after the informal EU summit in Cyprus.
According to Von der Leyen, the EU's energy costs have sharply increased in the 54 days since the start of the conflict.
"During this period, our bill for the purchase of carbon resources increased by 25 billion euros, although we have not purchased any more resources," she said.
She added that the use of strategic energy reserves by member states should be severely restricted, especially for aviation fuel.
The President of the European Commission emphasized that the EU should accelerate the implementation of alternative energy sources.
