American billionaire Donald Newhouse has died.
Modern.az reports with reference to the information spread by the US media that the billionaire, who was the co-owner of the media holding “Advance Publications”, died at the age of 96.
According to “The New York Times”, Donald Newhouse's death was confirmed by his son, Steven Newhouse. It was reported that the businessman died of lymphoma on May 26 at his home in New Jersey, USA.
Donald Newhouse was born in New York City in 1929. He and his older brother Samuel Newhouse Jr. inherited the “Advance Publications” media empire owned by their family from their father Samuel Newhouse.
The media holding owns Condé Nast, considered one of the most influential publications in the world. The company's portfolio includes The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Vogue, “Wired” and other popular magazines.
According to the information, Donald Newhouse led the holding's newspaper and cable television assets. His brother, on the other hand, controlled Condé Nast and the fashion-media direction.
In the ratings published by “Forbes” magazine in various years, the Newhouse family was listed among the richest media families in the USA.
