Restoration and reconstruction works carried out in Khankendi, Aghdara and Khojaly districts after the occupation and the phased return of the population continue.
Modern.az reports that Elchin Usubov, special representative for Khankendi, Khojaly, Asgaran, stated this during his speech at the panel held within the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum.
“Khankendi city and surrounding areas were returned to Azerbaijan's control on September 20, 2023. There are 2 settlements in the area. Restoration works have been carried out in 2 settlements, 71 houses have been restored. 71 families – a total of 302 former IDPs – have returned to the region. The total number of settled residents in the area is 22,715.
There are 59 settlements in Aghdara district. Restoration and reconstruction works have been carried out in 9 of them. To date, 857 houses have been restored. 857 families – 3341 former IDPs – have returned to the area. Currently, a total of 4453 people are settled in the district.
Restoration and reconstruction works are also continuing in Khojaly district. The phased return of former IDPs to the areas is ensured”.
