According to the UN Human Rights Office, at least 21 people have been executed in Iran since the start of the war with the US and Israel.

Modern.az reports that CNN reported this, citing UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.

According to the Commissioner, the executions were carried out against the backdrop of Iran's suppression of dissent, especially on the basis of "national security charges."

He stated that at least 9 people were executed in connection with the protests that took place in January 2026, 10 people for suspected membership in opposition groups, and 2 people on charges of espionage.

The report notes that since the start of US-Israeli military operations against Iran on February 28, "more than 4,000 people have been arrested in Iran on national security charges."

According to the information, many of them were "forcibly abducted, tortured, or subjected to cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment."

"Despite the conflict that has already led to serious consequences, I am horrified that the authorities continue to deprive the Iranian people of their rights through cruel and inhuman methods," Türk said.
