Commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) Admiral Brad Cooper and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Kane will brief President Donald Trump today on new plans for possible military operations in Iran.

Modern.az reports that this was stated in the information of the "Axios" portal.

According to the information, CENTCOM has developed a plan for a wave of "short and powerful" strikes against Iran. These strikes are expected to include infrastructure facilities. Washington hopes that after the strikes, Iran will return to the negotiating table and take a more flexible position on the nuclear issue.

Another plan expected to be presented to Trump involves seizing a part of the Strait of Hormuz to restore the movement of commercial vessels. According to one of the sources who informed "Axios", in this case, the use of ground forces is not excluded.

Another option is an operation by special forces against Iran's highly enriched uranium reserves.

Two sources told "Axios" that the head of the White House is currently considering a blockade as the main means of pressure, but does not rule out the possibility of military action if Iran does not compromise.

On Thursday, oil prices rose sharply amid news that the US was considering the possibility of military action against Iran. Brent crude futures for June delivery rose by $5.27 (4.5%) to $123.30 per barrel after rising 6.1% in previous trading. US WTI crude futures for June delivery rose by $2.42 (2.3%) to $109.30 per barrel after a 7% increase.

Trump rejected Iran's proposals, believing that a blockade is more effective than bombing. The president stated that Iran's oil storage facilities and pipelines are "on the verge of explosion" due to the impossibility of exports. The US leader promised to continue the blockade of Iranian ports until Tehran agrees to Washington's terms.

According to Press TV, Iran has threatened "unprecedented military measures" if the US continues the blockade.
