Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze accused members of the European Parliament of pressure and blackmail against the country.
Modern.az reports that “Interfax” disseminated information about this.
Kobakhidze told reporters that some calls made in the European Parliament regarding Georgia are of a pressure nature against the country:
“Members of the European Parliament attack free media in Georgia, raise the issue of possible suspension of the visa-free regime. This is blackmail and disgrace against the Georgian people. The report adopted in the European Parliament regarding Georgia also included the issue of imposing sanctions on “Imedi”, “Rustavi 2” and “PosTV” TV channels and the possible suspension of the visa-free regime for Georgian citizens. The European Parliament is preparing to adopt a new resolution on Georgia in the near future."
Kobakhidze also accused the European bureaucracy of attempting to create chaos in the country:
“European bureaucrats want to see confusion and chaos in Georgia, and for this they use various means, including the process of integration into the European Union, as a tool of pressure. As for my participation in the summit of European leaders held in Yerevan, even if there is a hostile attitude towards your country, it is necessary to be pragmatic and diplomatic to protect national interests.”
