In recent years, complaints about the quality of medicines in Azerbaijan have increased. Citizens claim that some preparations do not have the same effect as before, and even that fake medicines are sold in pharmacies.
Modern.az reports that Khazar TV has prepared a report on this.
Residents especially stated that throat and diabetes medicines were ineffective.
"Previously, diabetes medicines had a greater effect. Now they don't have such an effect. Probably the quality is low," one of the citizens noted.
Adil Geybulla, an expert on medical issues, stated that the entry of fake medicines into the pharmacy network is carried out through various illegal means and it is not possible to determine this at first glance.
According to him, in some cases, the active ingredient of medicines is reduced, as a result of which the preparation becomes cheaper and is put on sale.
The Analytical Expertise Center stated that a system for tracking and tracing medicines has been created to prevent fake medicines.
It was noted that through the system, each medicine is given a special unique code and all movement of the preparation from production to the final consumer is monitored.
According to information from the Center, through a mobile application that will be put into use in the near future, citizens will be able to check whether the medicine is fake by scanning the "data matrix" code on the medicine.
It was stated that no special technical knowledge is required to use the application.
