Cooperation in the field of education between Azerbaijan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has expanded significantly in recent years.
Javanshir Feyziyev, chairman of the Azerbaijan-Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus inter-parliamentary working group of the Milli Majlis, told Modern.az about this.
“Currently, the number of Azerbaijani students studying in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is approaching one thousand. Just a year or two ago, this figure barely reached 400. As a result of the development of cultural and humanitarian ties between our countries in recent years, currently about one thousand Azerbaijani students are pursuing higher education in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Cooperation is not limited to student exchange. A large number of Azerbaijani scientists and teachers work in higher education institutions operating in Northern Cyprus. There are numerous Azerbaijani professors, associate professors and teachers teaching at universities in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”.
The MP emphasized that Northern Cyprus universities also apply special concessions for Azerbaijani students:
“Each university offers special scholarship programs for students from Azerbaijan. At the same time, some students benefit from various concessions related to tuition fees. These opportunities have made Northern Cyprus one of the most attractive destinations for Azerbaijani youth who want to study abroad. All universities operating in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus have accreditations in accordance with international standards. The diplomas of these universities are recognized in Azerbaijan, Turkey and many countries around the world”.
