The sharp decrease in the weekly teaching load of some teachers directly affects the low amount of their average monthly salary.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by the Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev at the event held on the topic “Certification: competent teacher - quality education”.
According to the minister, 14,372 people, who make up 12% of teachers, receive salaries of up to 500 manats because they teach only 8 hours a week on average. The largest group of teachers in the country earns between 500-1000 manats. 45,126 people in this category have an average weekly teaching load of 17 hours. They make up 39% of all teachers.
“At the same time, as the weekly teaching hours increase, the income level of teachers also seriously increases. Thus, 40,240 teachers who teach an average of 25 hours a week receive a salary of 1000-1500 manats every month. 14,228 teachers with a weekly teaching load of 31 hours earn a salary in the range of 1500-2000 manats. The number of teachers who are included in the highest income group in the country and earn more than 2000 manats is 1,426. The average weekly teaching hours of these teachers, who make up 1% of the total staff, is 34 hours.”
