Foreign students, including citizens of non-EU countries, who study in Slovak at public universities in Slovakia can also receive free higher education.
Modern.az reports that Slovakia has become one of the attractive destinations for young people who want to study in Europe in recent years. The main reasons for this are the country's membership in the European Union, relatively low living costs, a safe environment, and wide opportunities for students.
According to the information, while education in English or German at public universities in Slovakia is paid, education in Slovak is free. For this, students are required to have at least B1-B2 level language proficiency. For specialties such as law and medicine, a C1 level may be required.
There are 21 public universities operating in the country, and there are thousands of program options, including humanities, technical, and natural sciences. Among the most prestigious higher education institutions are Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovak Technical University, Technical University of Košice, Matej Bel University, and Prešov University.
During their studies, students have the opportunity to travel visa-free in the Schengen area with a Slovak student residence permit. In addition, it is reported that the average monthly living expenses in Slovakia vary between 500-700 euros.
To be admitted to the university, applicants must submit an electronic application, a translated and certified certificate, a receipt for the registration fee, a document confirming language proficiency, and in some cases, a motivation letter or portfolio.
It is noted that various preparatory programs are available to learn the Slovak language and prepare for the admission process. The prices of these programs vary from 1800 euros to 9277 euros, depending on the format.
