Some details of the operation carried out by the US military near the city of Isfahan in central Iran earlier this month have been revealed.
Modern.az reports that Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia, spokesman for the Iranian army, described the incident in Isfahan as a defeat for the enemy.
According to him, four Iranian servicemen were killed during the operation to prevent the US infiltration attempt in southern Isfahan. Among them is General Masoud Zare, instructor and commander of the Air Defense Faculty of the Ground Forces.
Other servicemen killed are Colonel Seyed Saeed Mousavi, Lieutenant Colonel Moein Heydari, and Lieutenant Milad Salarvand.
Mohammad Akraminia said that the order issued by the commander of the Iranian army, Major General Amir Hatami, emphasized that any ground attack against the country must be met with a decisive response and no aggressor should be allowed to survive.
The spokesman also explained that on April 5, there was an attempt by the US to infiltrate Iranian territory, after which General Zare and a group of servicemen immediately went to the scene. According to him, Iranian servicemen targeted a US Lockheed C-130 Hercules aircraft with a shoulder-fired missile, causing the operation to fail and forcing enemy forces to flee the area.
Akraminia stressed that the Iranian Armed Forces remain in full readiness. He said that the current ceasefire conditions do not differ significantly from a state of war, and therefore combat readiness is maintained.
It should be recalled that on April 5, a rescue operation was carried out for the pilots of a US aircraft shot down in Iranian airspace. During this time, there was a clash between Iranian forces and US servicemen.
US President Donald Trump announced that two crew members of an American F-15E fighter jet shot down over Iranian territory were successfully rescued.
