With the decision adopted yesterday by the Council of the European Union, the sanctions applied against the ship "Zaqatala" belonging to "Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping" CJSC (ASCO), as well as the ships "Shusha", "Garabagh", "Khankendi" and "Zangazur" belonging to the joint venture of ASCO and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) have been lifted.

Modern.az reports with reference to ASCO that, according to the decision, the mentioned ships have been removed from the European Union's sanctions list.

The positive resolution of the issue was possible as a result of diplomatic and legal activities carried out in a coordinated manner by the Presidential Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, ASCO and SOCAR.

The mentioned ships were leased to third parties on a long-term basis under charter agreements, and their operation was carried out in full compliance with international rules, including international sanction requirements. The adopted decision is considered as the result of an objective approach and constructive dialogue based on international legal norms.

ASCO, as a state company engaged in international activities in the shipping sector, will continue its activities in strict compliance with the country's legislation, international legal norms and international sanction regimes.
