The United Arab Emirates is strengthening its position in the global energy market by establishing an alternative energy route through pipelines bypassing the Strait of Hormuz and the port of Fujairah.
Modern.az reports that this is noted in international analytical materials.
According to the information, the possibility of prolonged tension around Iran increases the risk of the Strait of Hormuz being closed and creates a demand for alternative routes.
One of the main advantages of the UAE is its location on both the Gulf and the Arabian Sea coasts. In particular, the port of Fujairah is already one of the important global centers for the storage and transportation of oil and petroleum products.
The currently operating Habshan–Fujairah pipeline allows the UAE to export oil directly to the Gulf of Oman. The capacity of this pipeline is approximately 1.5–1.8 million barrels per day.
In addition, the Jebel Dhanna–Fujairah pipeline project is also planned to be implemented. This line, designed for approximately 1.5 million barrels/day, is expected to be commissioned in 2027.
Experts believe that this route can play the role of an alternative export and logistics corridor not only for the UAE but also for the countries of the region in the future.
Thus, in the coming years, the dominant position of the Strait of Hormuz in global energy transportation is likely to weaken, and the UAE is likely to become a new strategic energy hub.
