Azerbaijan's non-oil exports increased: Russia remains the main market

In January-April 2026, Azerbaijan's non-oil sector exports (excluding non-monetary gold) increased by 13% compared to the same period last year, reaching 1.1 billion US dollars.

Modern.az reports that this information is reflected in the May issue of the “Export Review” for 2026 by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC).

According to the information, a significant increase in exports was recorded for a number of products during the reporting period. Thus, sugar exports increased 4 times, cotton yarn exports 2.3 times. Exports of fats and oils of plant and animal origin increased by 71%, cotton fiber by 49.9%, fruits and vegetables by 22.1%, aluminum and products made from them by 32.2%, tea by 12.1%, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages by 9.4%.

In January-April, exports of agricultural products increased by 28.3% to 298.3 million US dollars, and exports of agro-industrial products increased by 31.6% to 119 million US dollars. As a result, the combined exports of agricultural and agro-industrial products increased by 29.1% to 417.3 million US dollars.

Among the exported non-oil products, gold ranked first with 131.1 million US dollars. Cotton fiber with 92.9 million US dollars and copper ores with 87.9 million US dollars followed.

Russia was the main partner country in Azerbaijan's non-oil exports. During the reporting period, products worth 306.6 million US dollars were exported to Russia, 219.2 million US dollars to Turkey, 175.8 million US dollars to Georgia, 139.5 million US dollars to Switzerland, and 56 million US dollars to Ukraine.

The review noted that among the state companies participating in non-oil sector export operations, “SOCAR POLYMER” LLC holds a leading position. The list also includes “AzerGold” CJSC, “Azeraluminium” LLC, and other state enterprises.

In addition, the Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Azercosmos) exported telecommunication services worth 8.7 million US dollars to about 90 companies from 32 countries in the first four months of 2026. This revenue accounted for 64% of the agency's total revenues.

In Azercosmos's service exports, the top five were the United Kingdom with 1.4 million US dollars, Luxembourg with 1 million US dollars, Turkey with 381.1 thousand US dollars, Pakistan with 370 thousand US dollars, and Sweden with 187.2 thousand US dollars.
