There are only a few days left until the end of classes in schools in Azerbaijan. The new academic year will begin in a few months. At this time, one of the issues that parents are interested in is whether there will be any changes in school uniforms from the next academic year.
Modern.az contacted Etibar Azimov, head of the sales department of "Baku Sewing House" OJSC, regarding the issue.
He stated in his statement to our website that at the current stage, no changes are planned in the design and models of school uniforms:
"The design and model of school uniforms have been approved by the relevant decision of the Cabinet of Ministers. It is not within the authority of factories to make any changes to these uniforms. According to the currently valid decision, school uniforms are determined in 4 colors, and the models are the same for all public schools. No manufacturer can change these uniforms. Only private schools can prepare different uniforms according to their internal rules. In public schools, the use of approved standard uniforms is envisaged."
E. Azimov added that the prices of school uniforms are not regulated by the state:
"The price issue is not determined by state bodies. Various manufacturers operate in the market, and each enterprise determines the price according to the cost of the product, the material used, and consumption. Some products are offered at a cheaper price because they are made of artificial fabric. However, these products may not fully comply with the material requirements specified in the relevant decision of the Cabinet of Ministers."
He advised parents to pay attention to the composition of the product when choosing a school uniform:
"Parents should pay attention to the quality indicators of the product during selection. Shirts should be made of 100 percent cotton material. Trousers and skirts should have 60 percent wool, 40 percent polyester, and jackets should have 60 percent wool and 40 percent polyester composition. Factories and official state bodies comply with these requirements. Some manufacturers, however, import products from abroad, mainly from China, and offer them at a cheaper price. Therefore, prices in the market are different."
