"The average monthly salary in Azerbaijan has reached 1151 manats. According to the State Statistical Committee, in the first quarter of this year, the average monthly nominal salary increased by 6.2 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year."
Modern.az reports that economist-deputy Vugar Bayramov said this. He stated that during that period, the number of employees working under an employment contract was 1 million 797 thousand people, of whom 869 thousand were in the public sector and 928 thousand in the private sector.
"One of the striking points in the average monthly salary amount is the difference between sectors. Thus, the highest salary is in the mining industry. The average monthly salary of employees in this sector is 4581 manats. That is, employees in the oil and gas sector receive 4 times more salary compared to the average monthly salary across the country. In the financial and insurance sector, the average monthly salary is 2814 manats. Employees in the banking sector are the second highest paid in the country. In total, employees in 9 sectors of the economy are offered more salary compared to the average monthly salary across the country.
The average monthly salaries of employees in 10 sectors of the economy are lower than the national average. The lowest average monthly salary was recorded in agriculture, forestry and fishing: 720 manats. The average monthly salaries of those working in trade and repair of vehicles are also close to the salaries of those working in the agricultural sector: 768 manats. The average monthly salary in education is 824 manats, and in the science industry it is 1048 manats. Sectoral analysis of average monthly salary indicators is important in terms of differentiating salary increases. Not only for civil servants, but also for the public sector as a whole, optimizing salary amounts remains a priority."
